Grilled Duck Wings with Hoisin Glaze Recipe

I first tried duck wings at a small Asian-fusion spot on a date night, and I couldn’t stop thinking about them. So of course, I had to recreate them at home — with a healthy twist. These grilled duck wings are surprisingly easy, super flavorful, and that hoisin glaze? Sticky, sweet, savory heaven. We serve them as a fun weekend dinner or even as a party appetizer. They always disappear fast!

 

Ingredients:

For the Duck Wings:

  • 2 lbs duck wings

  • Salt and pepper

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

For the Hoisin Glaze:

  • 1/4 cup hoisin sauce

  • 1 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce

  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar

  • 1 tbsp honey or maple syrup

  • 1 tsp sesame oil

  • 1 clove garlic, minced

  • 1/2 tsp grated fresh ginger

  • Optional: chili flakes for heat

 

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the grill: Set grill to medium-high heat. Pat duck wings dry with paper towels and season with salt and pepper.

  2. Grill the wings: Toss wings with olive oil. Place on the grill and cook for 25–30 minutes, turning every 5–6 minutes, until skin is crispy and meat is tender.

  3. Make the glaze: While wings cook, combine hoisin, soy sauce, vinegar, honey, sesame oil, garlic, and ginger in a small saucepan. Simmer over low heat for 5 minutes until slightly thickened.

  4. Glaze and finish: In the last 5 minutes of grilling, brush wings generously with hoisin glaze. Let them caramelize slightly, flipping once more and brushing again.

  5. Serve: Garnish with sesame seeds or chopped green onions if desired. Serve hot!

  • Make it spicy: Add sriracha or chili paste to the glaze.

  • No grill? Bake at 400°F for 40–45 minutes, then broil with glaze for extra crisp.

  • Pair with: Asian slaw, sticky rice, or cucumber salad.
