Grilled Tilapia with Garlic Butter Recipe

There was a time when fish felt like too much work — but this garlic butter tilapia changed everything. It’s fast, foolproof, and packed with flavor. I started making it on weeknights when I wanted something light but satisfying, and now it’s one of those go-to recipes that makes me feel like I’ve got dinner handled, even when the day’s been chaos.
Ingredients:
-
4 tilapia fillets (about 5–6 oz each)
-
1 tbsp olive oil
-
Salt and pepper, to taste
-
Lemon wedges, for serving
For the garlic butter:
-
3 tbsp unsalted butter
-
2 cloves garlic, minced
-
1 tbsp lemon juice
-
1 tsp lemon zest
-
1 tbsp chopped parsley
Instructions:
-
Preheat the grill
Heat your grill or grill pan to medium-high heat. Lightly oil the grates or use foil for easy cleanup. -
Season the tilapia
Pat fillets dry, brush with olive oil, and season with salt and pepper. -
Grill the fish
Grill tilapia for 2–3 minutes per side, depending on thickness, until opaque and it flakes easily with a fork. Carefully flip with a wide spatula. -
Make the garlic butter
While the fish cooks, melt butter in a small saucepan. Add garlic and cook for 1–2 minutes until fragrant. Stir in lemon juice, zest, and parsley. -
Serve
Drizzle garlic butter over grilled tilapia and serve with lemon wedges. Pairs perfectly with rice, grilled vegetables, or a simple side salad.
