Frozen Lemon Basilade Recipe

I thought lemonade had to come from a mix — but every time I drank it, I felt that sugary crash coming. This frozen lemon basilade changed the game. It’s bold, herby, and icy-cold — the kind of drink I crave when I’ve been in the sun too long or just need to feel totally refreshed. And the best part? It’s made with only real ingredients.
Ingredients:
-
Juice of 2 lemons
-
1 tbsp honey or maple syrup (or to taste)
-
1½ cups cold water
-
¼ cup fresh basil leaves
-
1½ cups ice
-
Lemon slices & basil for garnish
Instructions:
-
Blend it up:
In a blender, combine lemon juice, water, basil, sweetener, and ice. Blend on high until frosty and slushy. -
Taste & adjust:
Add more honey or lemon to balance it to your liking. -
Serve immediately:
Pour into chilled glasses and garnish with a lemon slice and fresh basil sprig.
Sarah’s Tips:
-
For a fun twist, add a bit of cucumber before blending — it’s super hydrating and light.
-
You can also freeze lemon juice in cubes ahead of time for an extra icy texture.
-
Great for afternoon pick-me-ups, garden parties, or sipping after a workout.
