Classic Vanilla Milkshake Recipe

Some recipes just bring you right back — and this one tastes like old-school ice cream parlor happiness.
I started making this with the kids one summer afternoon just for fun… and now it’s our go-to for movie nights and impromptu treats. Just vanilla ice cream, milk, and a splash of real vanilla extract. It’s creamy, cold, and just sweet enough.
It’s one of those little joys that’s so simple, but always feels special.
Ingredients
-
2 cups vanilla ice cream
-
3/4 cup milk of choice (dairy or non-dairy)
-
1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract
-
Optional toppings: whipped cream, maraschino cherry, or sprinkles
Instructions
-
Blend it up:
Add ice cream, milk, and vanilla to a blender. Blend until smooth and creamy — about 30 seconds. -
Serve:
Pour into chilled glasses. Top with whipped cream and a cherry if you want the classic touch. Enjoy immediately!
Sarah’s Tips
-
For a thicker milkshake, use less milk and blend longer.
-
Add a scoop of protein powder or collagen for a little boost.
-
For fun: rim the glass with sprinkles or drizzle in a bit of caramel sauce.
