Citrus Splash Margarita Recipe

Back when my kids were little, I used to dream about a 5-minute escape from the chaos — just enough to feel like me again. One summer evening, I started playing around with leftover citrus and a splash of tequila while prepping dinner. What came out of that shaker was sunshine in a glass — tart, sweet, and a little sparkly. Now, this is my go-to cocktail when I want to treat myself or impress friends without spending all night bartending.
🍹 Citrus Splash Margarita
Ingredients:
-
2 oz silver tequila
-
1 oz fresh lime juice (about 1 lime)
-
1 oz fresh orange juice (or tangerine for a twist)
-
½ oz fresh grapefruit juice
-
½ oz agave nectar or honey (adjust to taste)
-
Ice
-
Sparkling water (optional, for topping)
-
Sea salt or Tajín (for the rim)
-
Lime or orange slices, for garnish
Instructions:
-
Prep the Glass: Rub a lime wedge around the rim of your glass, then dip it into sea salt or Tajín. Fill with ice.
-
Mix It Up: In a cocktail shaker, combine tequila, citrus juices, and agave nectar. Add ice and shake well for 15 seconds.
-
Pour & Finish: Strain into your prepared glass. Top with a splash of sparkling water if desired.
-
Garnish & Serve: Add a slice of lime or orange for a little flair — and enjoy immediately!
🍊 Sarah’s Tips:
-
Want it spicy? Add a slice of jalapeño to the shaker before shaking.
-
No shaker? Use a mason jar with a tight lid — works like a charm.
-
Hosting a party? Triple the batch and serve in a pitcher with lots of citrus slices.
