This one started as a “use what we’ve got” Friday night. I had pizza dough, leftover ground beef, and some burger toppings in the fridge — so I tossed them together and hoped for the best. What came out of the oven? Cheeseburger Pizza heaven. It’s cheesy, meaty, saucy, and has that signature burger tang from the pickles and sauce. Now it’s one of our favorite ways to switch up pizza night without calling delivery. 

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)

  • 1/2 lb ground beef

  • 1/4 cup yellow onion, finely chopped

  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

  • 1/3 cup ketchup

  • 2 tablespoons yellow mustard

  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella (optional for meltiness)

  • 1/3 cup dill pickles, thinly sliced

  • Optional: chopped tomatoes, shredded lettuce, sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 450°F (232°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat up.

  2. Brown the beef: In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef and onion with garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Drain and set aside.

  3. Roll out pizza dough on a lightly floured surface and transfer to a baking sheet or preheated stone.

  4. Mix the sauce: Combine ketchup and mustard in a small bowl. Spread evenly over the dough.

  5. Add toppings: Sprinkle on cooked beef mixture, then top with cheddar and mozzarella. Add pickle slices evenly over the top.

  6. Bake for 12–15 minutes until the crust is golden and cheese is bubbling.

  7. Finish with optional lettuce, tomato, or sesame seeds for that true burger vibe.

 

Tips from Sarah’s Kitchen:

  • Want extra tang? Drizzle a little burger sauce or Thousand Island dressing before serving.

  • Add crumbled cooked bacon for a bacon cheeseburger twist.

  • Use pre-baked flatbread or naan for quick mini versions.

  • Get the kids involved — they love customizing their slices!
