Grilled Asparagus with Parmesan Recipe

I used to think asparagus was just a “spring vegetable” I’d only eat once in a while, but once I learned how good it is grilled with a little Parmesan, it became a regular side at our house. I love how fast it comes together — no fuss, just olive oil, salt, and a sprinkle of cheese. It’s fresh, fancy-feeling, and so easy that even on a busy weeknight, I still have time to make something that tastes special.
Ingredients
-
1 bunch of fresh asparagus (about 1 lb), trimmed
-
1 tbsp olive oil
-
Salt and pepper, to taste
-
¼ cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
-
Optional: lemon wedges for serving
Instructions
-
Preheat your grill (or grill pan) to medium-high.
-
Trim the asparagus, snapping off the woody ends.
-
Toss with olive oil, salt, and pepper in a bowl until well coated.
-
Grill for 4–6 minutes, turning occasionally, until tender-crisp with charred edges.
-
Remove from the grill, sprinkle immediately with Parmesan so it melts slightly.
-
Serve warm with a squeeze of lemon for extra brightness.
Sarah’s Tips
-
Use thin asparagus for quicker grilling; thicker stalks may need a couple more minutes.
-
Add a sprinkle of red pepper flakes if you like a little heat.
-
Great alongside grilled chicken, salmon, or pasta for a well-rounded meal.
-
Leftovers? Chop and add to scrambled eggs or salads the next day!
