Chicken Waldorf Salad Recipe

This Chicken Waldorf Salad is one of those meals that feels both classic and fresh at the same time. Creamy, crunchy, a little sweet, a little savory—it’s the perfect balance.
I started making this when I was craving something cool and crisp on warm days but still wanted enough protein to keep me full. The chopped chicken, crisp apples, celery, grapes, and crunchy walnuts tossed in a creamy Greek yogurt dressing? It’s a total win.
Whether you serve it in lettuce cups, over greens, or tucked into a whole grain wrap, this salad is simple, clean, and satisfying in all the right ways.
Ingredients
-
2 cups cooked chicken breast, chopped or shredded
-
1/2 cup red grapes, halved
-
1 small apple, diced (Honeycrisp or Gala work great)
-
1/4 cup chopped celery
-
1/4 cup chopped walnuts
-
2 tbsp red onion, finely chopped (optional)
For the Dressing:
-
1/3 cup plain Greek yogurt
-
1 tsp Dijon mustard
-
1 tsp honey or maple syrup
-
1 tsp lemon juice
-
Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
-
In a large bowl, combine chicken, grapes, apple, celery, walnuts, and red onion if using.
-
In a small bowl, whisk together Greek yogurt, Dijon, honey, lemon juice, salt, and pepper.
-
Pour the dressing over the chicken mixture and toss until everything is coated evenly.
-
Chill for 10–15 minutes before serving. Serve over a bed of greens, in lettuce cups, or with whole grain crackers or pita.
Why I Love This Salad
It’s creamy and crunchy with just the right touch of sweetness—and it always hits the spot. I love making a batch at the start of the week for easy lunches that feel comforting and fresh at the same time.
When I was working on eating cleaner, this was one of those recipes that helped me stay full, satisfied, and totally on track without feeling like I was “dieting.”
