Banana Split Milkshake Recipe

Banana splits used to be my favorite childhood dessert—piled high with ice cream, chocolate sauce, and way too much whipped cream. But now that I focus on simple, feel-good ingredients, I created this milkshake version that brings back all those fun flavors… without the sugar rush or guilt. It’s creamy, nostalgic, and hits every sweet craving in just one glass.
Ingredients:
-
1 frozen banana
-
1/2 cup frozen strawberries
-
1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
-
1 cup unsweetened almond milk (or milk of choice)
-
1 tablespoon almond butter (adds creaminess and richness)
-
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
-
1–2 teaspoons maple syrup or 1 soft Medjool date (optional)
-
Optional: 1 scoop vanilla or chocolate protein powder
-
Optional toppings: coconut whipped cream, cacao nibs, fresh strawberry slice, or a cherry
Instructions:
-
Add all ingredients to a high-speed blender.
-
Blend until thick and smooth.
-
Taste and adjust sweetness as needed.
-
Pour into a tall glass and top with your favorite Banana Split-style toppings.
-
Enjoy a milkshake that tastes like dessert—but feels like fuel.
Tips & Substitutions:
-
Use peanut butter instead of almond butter for a more nostalgic flavor.
-
Add ice or reduce milk for a thicker shake.
-
Swap strawberries for cherries or raspberries for a twist.
