Cheeseburger Lettuce Wraps

All the juicy, cheesy burger flavor — without the bun (or the bloat).
A few years ago, I started paying attention to how I felt after dinner. Heavy. Bloated. Like I needed a nap instead of time with my family. And burgers? I loved them, but they always left me feeling like I overdid it.
That’s when I discovered lettuce wraps.
These cheeseburger lettuce wraps are everything I want in a classic burger — savory beef, melted cheese, all the toppings — but wrapped in crisp, refreshing lettuce that keeps things light. My whole family loves them, and I love how easy they are to whip up on a busy night.
Ingredients
-
1 lb lean ground beef (I use 90/10)
-
1 tsp garlic powder
-
1 tsp onion powder
-
½ tsp salt
-
¼ tsp black pepper
-
1 tbsp yellow mustard
-
1 tbsp ketchup
-
½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
-
1 head butter lettuce or romaine (for wraps)
Toppings (optional but delicious):
-
Diced pickles
-
Diced tomatoes
-
Sliced red onion
-
Avocado
-
Extra ketchup or mustard
Instructions
-
Cook the beef: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef, breaking it up with a spatula. Add garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Cook until browned and fully cooked through.
-
Add the flavor: Stir in the mustard and ketchup. Cook for 1 more minute until well combined.
-
Add cheese: Sprinkle shredded cheddar over the meat and let it melt in. Stir until cheesy and combined.
-
Assemble wraps: Spoon warm beef mixture into lettuce leaves. Add your favorite toppings and serve immediately.
Tips & Swaps
-
Lettuce matters: Butter lettuce is my favorite for wraps — soft and flexible but strong enough to hold the filling.
-
Make it low-dairy: Use dairy-free cheese or skip it — still tasty!
-
Want more crunch? Add shredded carrots, slaw, or chopped cucumbers.
-
Prep ahead: Cook the beef mixture up to 3 days in advance and reheat when ready to serve.
Why You'll Love It
