Strawberry Shortcake in a Jar (Lightened-Up & No-Bake Treat!)

clean eating family friendly gluten free healthy dessert lightened up treats mason jar mason jar recipe meal prep no bake strawberry recipes summer dessert

There’s something about strawberry shortcake that takes me back.
Summer nights, bare feet in the grass, sticky fingers from fresh-picked berries… and Grandma’s shortcake with whipped cream piled high.

This Strawberry Shortcake in a Jar is my clean, slightly lighter take on that nostalgic favorite. It’s made with layers of fresh strawberries, fluffy whipped coconut cream or Greek yogurt, and crumbled shortcake or almond flour biscuits.

No baking needed. No guilt. Just fresh, juicy, perfectly sweet goodness in a cute little jar.

📝 Ingredients You’ll Need

For the layers:

  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced

  • 1–2 tsp maple syrup (optional, to sweeten berries)

  • 1½ cups whipped cream, coconut cream, or vanilla Greek yogurt

  • 1 cup crumbled shortcake, vanilla protein muffins, or almond flour biscuits

Optional garnishes:

  • Fresh mint

  • Extra berry slices

  • Sprinkle of granola or shaved coconut

👩‍🍳 How to Make It

  1. Prep the berries:
In a bowl, toss sliced strawberries with a splash of maple syrup. Let sit for 5–10 minutes to release their juices.

  2. Assemble the jars:
In small mason jars or glasses, layer crumbled cake, whipped cream, and strawberries. Repeat until jars are full.

  3. Chill or serve immediately:
You can enjoy these right away, or refrigerate for up to 4 hours. Perfect for parties or make-ahead treats!

💡 Sarah’s Tips

  • Make it dairy-free: Use coconut whipped cream or plant-based yogurt.

  • No shortcake? Use crushed graham crackers, angel food cake, or gluten-free muffins.

  • Meal prep tip: Assemble everything in jars with lids for grab-and-go desserts!

  • Extra protein: Use high-protein yogurt or add a scoop of vanilla protein powder to the cream.

🍓 Sweet, Simple, and So Pretty

This dessert hits all the right notes: creamy, fruity, just sweet enough, and perfect for warm nights or special occasions. Plus, there’s just something fun about dessert in a jar—it feels like a little gift to yourself.

Try this one with your favorite berries and make it your own. It’s the kind of treat that brings smiles, no matter your age.
